The Southern Magnolia

Today, I was moved to comment on an entry by Anna Laurent on a site named Imprint. The subject of note is the seed pod of the Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandifloria). Here is a link to that page.

Thanks to Carol Hanby and Dr. Nikolas Nickou, I was allowed to cut a sample from their glorious, huge magnolia tree in Branford, CT. Here is my scanner photograph from May 30 2011.
